Miguel Barredo
(a.k.a 4ZR4)
is a Filipino artist born and raised in Singapore. A wizard in graphic novels and the like, he draws inspiration from games, folklore, comic books and pretty much any form of fiction no matter how ancient. He has a keen interest in fiction that explores concepts of the "superhuman" and philosophical ideologies. When not putting pencil on paper, he is always looking for new things to learn and explore, such as photography, beatboxing and the wavedash.
Artist Statement
Since childhood, stories never failed to give me that sense of inspiration as soon as the credits roll or the last page is flipped. I want others to experience that feeling, and hence I try to instil that excitement of diving into a piece of fiction into every page I leave a mark on. My style can be seen as a mix of western comic books and manga, which holds this sort of dynamic yet edgy aesthetic. Aiming to follow the footsteps of established artists of the same discipline, my toolset comprises their typical traditional mediums and software such as pencils and ink pen on Bristol boards with Photoshop and/or Clip Studio for rendering.
